Shequeena McKenzie, Esq.

General Practice Attorney and Municipal Court Judge

Shequeena McKenzie is a distinguished attorney licensed in Mississippi, renowned for her commitment to advocating for those who have suffered due to the negligence or wrongdoing of others. Influenced by an innate passion for justice, she has devoted her career to championing the rights of the injured and marginalized, standing as a powerful voice for those unable to defend themselves.

From a young age, Shequeena was driven by a burning desire to be the voice for the voiceless. Rather than dwelling on the problems facing the world, she embraced a proactive mindset, telling herself, “If you don’t see a change, be the change.” With this guiding philosophy, she determined that the most effective way to make a difference would be through the practice of law—where her passion could directly impact lives and create meaningful change.

Shequeena earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Human Rights from the University of Southern Mississippi and went on to graduate cum laude with her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law. While pursuing her law degree, Shequeena’s talent and dedication were quickly recognized. She was honored with the prestigious AmJur Best Paper Award in Criminal Law and the Sam Wilkins Criminal Law Award. Additionally, she gained invaluable experience as a Student Attorney in the Guardian Ad Litem Clinic, representing clients in family law cases. She also externed at the Mississippi Court of Appeals under the Honorable Judge Latrice Westbrooks, further honing her skills in appellate law.

Following law school, Shequeena embarked on a diverse legal career that began at a civil defense firm, where she developed a strong foundation in insurance defense. Her exceptional abilities led to a coveted clerkship with the Honorable Judge Deborah McDonald at the Mississippi Court of Appeals. This position solidified her understanding of complex legal matters and provided her with unique insights into the judicial process.

Championing Justice with Proven Leadership

As Shequeena’s career progressed, she found her true calling in personal injury law while working at a firm in Jackson, Mississippi. Her in-depth knowledge, combined with her fierce dedication to her clients, quickly propelled her to the role of lead personal injury attorney. In this capacity, Shequeena confidently navigated the intricacies of personal injury cases, securing justice and significant financial recovery for her clients.

In November 2020, Shequeena made history when she was appointed as the first African American Female Judge Pro Tempore for McComb City, Mississippi. The following year, she was appointed Municipal Court Judge for Magnolia, Mississippi, where she presides over cases involving misdemeanor crimes, municipal ordinances, DUIs, and traffic violations within city limits. As a Municipal Court Judge, Shequeena oversees all aspects of the cases, from initial appearances and bond hearings to preliminary proceedings, making critical decisions with fairness and integrity.

Today, Shequeena’s legal practice continues to focus on personal injury law, where her deep expertise and tireless advocacy have resulted in numerous victories, recovering millions of dollars for her clients. Her profound knowledge of Mississippi’s legal landscape allows her to effectively serve her community, ensuring that each client receives the best possible representation.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shequeena is deeply dedicated to her family. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, as well as engaging in crafting and traveling.
